A traditional European market bag, used for years in Italy & France as the original "recycled" shopping bags.  These were designed to carry groceries & other heavy items, so they had to be strong & tough, as well as good looking.  Ours are made of either natural Abaca (banana) fiber or natural Jute fiber, and they are both handsome & strong!

And THIS time of year they are ideal for filling with all kinds of different "gifts", whether that is exotic food, toys, art materials - maybe a bottle of celebratory champagne, tin of caviar & maybe some Godiva Chocolates.

 I find them great for everything from yarns to my favorite use - a bag of "faux food"  (including a Fake Fish or two) to hang in my kitchen, bringing that Italian country kitchen ambiance to my corner of Oregon.  

 And, of course I keep my personal stash of various Abaca-Banana Fiber Textiles in one, so that they are visually accessible and inspiring!
