Our "SPUN SILK" Handmade Papers are an absolutely exquisite and unusual collection of "papers". Actually not paper at all, they are made from the raw silk clots left by a moth that feeds on the leaves of the mulberry tree. They are ethereal and semi-transparent, looking more like they have been spun.
Our "SPUN SILKS" come in Solids (one color, not inclusions), & in Potpourris which have the same texture but also have colored or white silk threads & fibers in the "pulp". All are transparent and have full deckle edges.
Besides collage, I love using these papers on actual objects. Here I used a combination of #32011 Solid "Melon" & #33043 Potpourri "Butter" on a discarded glass bottle. The transparency allows for a beautiful play of sunlight
Photo below shows Solids & Potpourri and paper transparency:
#32011 "SPUN SILK" Solid "Melon" - background
#33043 "SPUN SILK" Potpourri "Butter" - upper left corner
#33048 "SPUN SILK" Potpourri "Champagne" - Fossil Leaf behind paper (transparency)

with various images, organic material, fibers, etc. behind the paper
Darker colors will have a little less transparency than lighter ones

i am very happy with this paper. I have already used some of it. I used some as collage in a painting, but had to be very careful because it comes apart when it is wet. I found that I could put Matte medium down first then pressed the silk paper down carefully let dry, then I could go over it with Matte medium and it worked great and I was very pleased with it.
