A Source Place for Creative Living

loose ends, LLC is a unique company specializing in unusual products for home and garden with an emphasis on environmentally friendly products. Established by Sandi and Art Reinke in 1987, loose ends has grown to over 4,000 products including 800 different types of handmade papers, offering a 3 volume, 528 page, full color catalogue with creative ideas and design tips. In addition to a showroom, warehouse and gardens situated on three acres in Salem, Oregon, loose ends has showrooms in both Los Angeles, California and High Point, North Carolina.

Often described as a Disneyland for adults, loose ends is simply magical. From the “Banana Bay Bamboo Furniture Company” with everything imaginable made from bamboo and the coconut palm, loose ends carries a variety of furniture, floor and wall coverings, and accessories. From “Now & Zen” bringing a touch of the Far East moving to items with a coastal living elegance style, from here to the ”Paris Bistro” filled with fluffy, fussy, fantasy, frivolous things, to rustic European products quite wonderful and classic. And a handmade artisan’s gallery
presents items from individual artist found in various parts of the world. All this with handmade papers, unusual packaging, boxes and bags, ribbons, organic fibers from mosses, leaves, twigs, branches and bark.

loose ends has been featured in (35 to 40) publications such as “Woman’s Day”, “Family Circle”, “Latina”, “Coastal Living”, “Brides”, “Martha Stewart” to name a few. Sandi Reinke’s television appearances featuring up scale projects include Smart Solutions, Carol Duvall Show, The Christopher Lowell Show, Willard Scott’s Almanac and others. Sandi’s “Creative Paper Projects” book and her video are selling well. She also writes a weekly Gannet newspaper column.

A passion of loose ends is having a commitment to selling a majority of handmade articles from villages worldwide. Sandi and Art personally travel to remote areas working with local artisans developing design ideas for new products while improving on existing items. This is done to keep the craft work from dying out while keeping families working. These crafts are not available in the United States and do not take work from Americans.

Design services include allied A.S.I.D. members on staff. Through select villagers and factories, loose ends is capable of producing almost anything a customer might desire. Custom products such as capiz shell lighting fixtures for a prestigious lighting company being a recent example. Their clients include Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, and Liz Claiborne. It is the intent and pleasure of
loose ends to continue to develop interesting products for the home that show an appreciation for the natural, organic world around us made from materials that are beautiful, functional and highly renewable.
