"Imagination is more important than information"
Special Loose "U" Vintage Visions Collection
I have had the great good fortune to have been born into a family of collectors (wow, what a surprise!). Beyond a doubt I was geetically programmed to be interested in almost everything, and to consequently, pick up and collect the same.
I always thought that everyone’s family was like ours. When we went on vacations we always came back with the car so loaded with rocks, shells, books, antiques, driftwood, and other assorted goodies that the frame barely cleared the pavement.
One of the things that my father collected was antique paper ephemera, including old ads, books, posters, and postcards. At the time of his death the postcard collection numbered over 100,00 individual pieces.
Last year, my sister and I finally made the difficult decision to sell much of the collection, but not before I went through and put together my own private collection of those images that stirred my soul. You will not find these to be the average run of Victorian ladies, but rather the rarer (and sometimes naughty) French postcards, the early street scenes, unusual advertising, bathing beauties, wild animals, etc., etc., etc.
We are debuting this extensive collection exclusively to you, our loose “U” members first. You will need to use this link to access the collection on the web.
We are also including photos of some of the things that we have done with these images. There are no specific directions for any of these projects right now, but we still wanted to include the ideas – you know that old saying about a “picture being worth a thousand words”.
I hope that these
images strike a responsive chord in you, and that that spark ignites
a whole new direction of creative ideas!
Our images are 1200
dots per every inch (dpi) resolution and heat-set copied onto high,
photographic quality paper. Images (same image per sheet) may be ordered
in the following configuration on an 8-1/2” x 11” sheet.
